Thanks For the Memories
The human brain is an incredible thing. It has the ability to remember a large about of things. However, it can't remember everything. This is when photography comes in, to capture all of those wonderful memories so you can always remember them. This, in my opinion, is the most important part of photography. Here are a few reasons why.
If there weren't photos of your relatives, would you even remember them? Say one of your parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts or uncles died before you were old enough to remember them? You might not remember them, but a photo can help you to do that. I know my grandpa and I were very close when I was a baby. The stories and very cloudy memories I have of him are wonderful. Unfortunately, he died when I was still very young, yet he will always hold a spot in my heart. Without the pictures of him and I, I don't believe I would remember what he looked like. However, when I see a picture, it takes me back. It takes me back to his smell, his voice, his laugh. Seeing pictures of him always makes me happy and remember him more. This is a very important reason why photos are very important.
Not only for the reasons of death, but also happier occasions like weddings or birthday parties. Proms, child birth, graduation. These are all very important memories that all of us hold dearly in our heart. Pictures are there to keep the memories alive, and to remind you how happy that moment was for you. I don't know what I would do without my endless supply on pictures from grade school, high school, and now college. I know I will cherish all of them for a very long time. They take me back to the places I've forgotten I've been. I would never want to lose those, which is why I am so thankful we have the technology of photography. So there it is, another fantastic reason why photography is so important.
